The Förderverein "Solarstadt Gelsenkirchen e.V." was founded in 2004. Being an information and cooperation platform for all participants of  "Solar City Gelsenkirchen", the association merges all activities to implement the overall concept of "Solar City Gelsenkirchen". Furthermore, it aims at raising awareness for renewable energy and climate protection and at improving international cooperation.

The association organizes roadshows, carries out initial consultancy both for citizens and businesses, intending to use renewable energy. It also developes innovative projects (e.g. private solar power plants) and establishes international partnerships.

Individuals and companies can support the non-profit organization by signing up for Associate Memberships. Take a look at the list of regular members of the association.

Many companies are also attached to the “Zukunftsinitiative Gelsenkirchen 2020”, which supports the activities of the “Solar City Gelsenkirchen” as well.
